Boot pin is not present on the top side of the ECU board.
This means that the you have to disassemble the ECU removing the board from the aluminium shell.
This is really dangerous.
Test the ECU on the car to be sure it's fully working after the opening and
disassembly.
AFTER this test proceed with tuning.
Thermical conducting paste should be restored in order to avoid
electronic components faults.
If not those faults may happens also after some days.

New Backup Manager ( File menu -> Tricore Backup File Manager ),
it's now possible to export and import IROM/XROM/E2P1/E2P2.
Backup files are automatically created and saved during the ECU reading into
the "Documents\My Ecu Backups" folder
New restore function: Backup files and edited backup files can be now
restored, just write the backup as you do now with tuning files.
The Backup files will be flashed as they are, no checksums will be
corrected.
First to be flashed CMDFlash will read again and create a new backup
file ( to avoid data loss ).
All those functions are availables on MASTER tools only .

CMD technologies srl does not wish to expose itself and customers to possible legal actions due to the use of the original keys that are necessary to guarantee the access to the EDC16 BMW
ecus.
For this reason we have preferred to implement inside the BDM checksum a code patch that will allow you to flash the ecu by
OBD.
How it works:
- open the ecu and read the full BDM file
- write the first modification by BDM or simply press the Checksum button
- wire the ecu to the car boby
Now it will be possible to write by OBD, reading is always possible.
EDC16C31 1Mb OBD Reading/Writing/Checksum - NO RECOVERY (in case of you can restore the ecu with the BDM
backup)

All the necessary information are inside this document.
BDM procedures are not changed, they are exactly the same as before.
The patch is invisible to the BMW diagnosis tool and after an eventual software upgrade you will be able to be read and write again the new the file by OBD.

If in near future we will be able to develop a different access procedure that still not requires BMW original keys we will release new protocols.
Using the same patching trick we will soon provide you the following BMW 'OBD' protocols:
MSV70, MSS60, MSS65,ME9.
OUR BMW EDC16 OBD IS ONLY A SHORTCUT FOR BDM OWNERS.
IT'S NOT A STANDARD FLASH PROTOCOL. TAKE IT AS A DEVELOPMENT TOOL.

updates, some protocols updates has been introduced to detect OBD
tuning. With this new MpcProg release, you can put back the original file and avoid this kind of
problem.
At this moment we are not yet able to clear the OBD number of
programmations, but we are working on this task.
We can confirm you that BDM tuning still remains invisible to VAG
diagnosis.
